Fashion Friday: Saucony Shoes

Saucony Women's Jazz Lo Pro
I have never owned a pair of Saucony shoes. But I might be interested now. They have two lines of shoes they have labeled vegan and lots of different color combos. Here are a couple examples. What do you think?

Saucony Men's Bullet

Just type "vegan" in the search box and you should get all the vegan styles in your search results. Go forth and browse.

Fashion Friday: John Bartlett's Tiny Tim Fashions

Vegansaurus recently posted a cute little raglan pullover featuring Tiny Tim, John Bartlett's late tripod pitbull. It's a simple design found on all of his products. All of the shirts look soo comfy! Here are a few of the winter wear items, starting with Bartlett's take on a traditional winter sweater, plus a couple other goodies. Some proceeds go to the Tiny Tim Rescue Fund, a non profit dedicated to raising and distributing funds for dog rescue groups who pull animals directly from high-kill shelters. He is having a Black Friday sale, so check that out while you're visiting.

David Zabriskie, Pro Cyclist

David Zabriskie
David Zabriskie is a world-class cyclist and has participated in Le Tour de France about 6 times. This last LTdF race, he planned to cycle sustained by a vegan diet. The first cyclist to do so. I believe he did plan to consume some fish a couple of times a week if it proved necssary, but it sounds like he was making the attempt to race with a mostly vegan diet.

Of course, this post is a little behind and Le Tour de France is over and David Zabriskie crashed out with some injuries. But I thought I would bring attention to him as an athlete and his vegan diet. He eats vegan because of the improved health and performance benefits he receives.

Here is a good article from the Wall Street Journal about Zabriskie, his move to veganism, and his 2011 plan for Le Tour de France. It includes his race menu. Looking forward to seeing him try again next year.

And here is his blog where he recaps his experience on Le Tour and in his career in general. His blog posts are rather engaging, even for those of us not into cycling. And he's a big fan of superheroes and comics, which is always cool in my book.

Lastly, check out this shirt you can buy on his website.

Fashion Friday: Green New American Vegetarian Restaurant

Sorry about the pic, it's from my phone and not the best quality. Also, this week's Fashion Friday only has one item for your consideration, but it's an awesome one!

Green New American Vegetarian Tee

Advertise for local fave, Green, everywhere you go with this shirt featuring their logo. I love Green, no doubt about it, and I like their logo, but sometimes I wonder how that logo connects to Green. No matter, I'd wear the shirt proudly anyway!

Shirts are $10 at the restaurant.

Rumor has it the new Phoenix Green and Nami locations will be open in about a month. Looking forward to it!

I found this first shirt online and I just loved it. And suddenly I was planning an entire Fashion Friday around the cool cat and dog advocacy of the ASPCA. They have some great shirts, as evidenced below. There are often cat and dog versions, as well as mens' and womens' styles and sizes, for each message.

Will Fight For Animals

Don't Believe the Bull...Adopt a Pit

Speaking Up for Those Who Can't

I Love My Shelter Cat

There's No Excuse for Animal Abuse

Bonus:

Will Fight for Animals

(Some shirts are available in unisex, men's, women's, juniors, plus sizes, and children's sizes. I only display one shirt as a representative of the style. Please see the websites for available size and style/color options.)

Fashion Friday: Kale

I adore these 'Only Kale Can Save Us Now' t-shirts and bags from Herbivore Clothing. In fact, they are the inspiration for this post. Once I saw them, I knew I had to do a Fashion Friday post on kale.

And some more kale-inspired goodies.

Kale is the New Beef [Dr. Fuhrman]
(I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the message on this one, but I can't really explain why I think the message isn't perfect. But maybe that's just me.)

Kale [Candle Cafe]
(You can buy these at the Candle Cafe, and possibly order them by phone. Hopefully, they will be available via the online store in the near future.)

I Heart Kale Pendant [Julep115 Etsy/ (aka Christy Robinson Designs)]

Fashion Friday: Big Buddha

Big Buddha: Harley

My aunt bought a new purse and it came with a tag that informed her that the bag she purchased was entirely animal friendly and vegan. She was suprised and kept the tag to show me. The purse she bought was the Harley from Big Buddha, and she really likes it.

Anyway, I decided to check them out and it looks like all of their purses are animal friendly and everything I read about them says they are 100% vegan. Most of the bags come in a few different color options as well. I thought I would show you a couple styles that I had my eye on...

I'm loving this Biker Hobo. Normally, I prefer black over brown, but the brown is super cute. So is the gunmetal one (not pictured).
Big Buddha: Biker Hobo
I have no idea why I like this pink one, but there is something about it that makes it cute.
Big Buddha: Sadie
The Sasha would be a cute little clutch purse for holiday parties.
Big Buddha: Sasha
I totally love this little white bag. I generally prefer silver embellishments, but the gold isn't so bad here with the simpleness of the design.
Big Buddha: Melrose
I think this is my favorite, or the Biker Hobo above. I like it in black...
Big Buddha: Tiny Dancer (Black)
...but I really LOVE it in the brown!
Big Buddha: Tiny Dancer (Brown)
And lastly, Big Buddha is teaming up with Steve Madden (LOVE!!) and creating a new shoe line. Here are a pair of Big Buddha boots that I absolutely adore from the new line.
Big Buddha: Casi Boot
You can find some Big Buddha bags at DSW, Nordstrom, TJ Maxx, Dillards, and online at Moo Shoes, and baghaus. I saw the shoes online at Moo Shoes.

Happy Shopping!
