Another journalist is going vegan, at least temporarily, and writing about the experience. This time it's Jessica Hullinger from Conducive Chronicle and she's doing a two-week trial period, with a potential for longer. Her reasons are more about the environment and minimizing her carbon footprint, but that is important too. I applaud her efforts, but I think a real trial period for veganism should be at least 3-4 weeks, in order to conquer new habits and break lifelong old ones and to really get a feel for a lifestyle. So I hope she gives it another 2 weeks. In the meantime, she's already learned a great deal of impressive stuff.
Read all about her first week here.

I agree about needing more time. Having tried with many false starts to "go vegan" in the past, I do like that she's giving it a timeframe. It was by going vegan for Lent that I decided to try it for a year...and by the 3rd month, I finally knew it was "for life." My understanding is it takes about 3 months to really get comfortable in a new habit.
BTW, I referred a friend to Chicos and Beans for nutritional guidance! :-)
