WOW! Vegan chefs are kicking ass in Arizona. Big News.
First, Chef Damon Brasch has sold That's a Wrap, his vegan-friendly lunch spot in Central Phoenix, to manager Erik Hansen. Hansen is keeping the old menu, but expanding it to include beer and wine and some evening grub. And he is extending the hours and moving a little bit north to the old Lola Tapas location on Camelback, just east of 7th Street. Supposedly the new location of TAW will open early in September. Good because I am jonsein' for an Alotta Fajita Wrap (veganized with tofu, minus cheese) and a Chocolate Almond Butter Smoothie!
THEN, Chef Damon, who also created and owns Green is going to add a second Green location at the old That's a Wrap site on 7th Street, just north of McDowell. But it's going to be a few months before it opens because he is expanding the dining area and adding more parking. Thank goodness! Because that place is tiny! I can't wait. This is more great news for Central Phoenix, which just had the new Loving Hut location open up at Indian School and 32nd Street.
But that's not all! Cave Creek is getting some vegan love too, with a new vegan raw food restaurant opening up there in November. Chef Sara Siso is bringing us Chef Sara Raw Cuisines. I don't know how busy she is going to be with a new restaurant, but she has taught un-cooking classes and offered her raw vegan cuisine for catering for quite some time. For those of you who know the Cave Creek area, her new place should be opening up next to Janey's Coffee House on East Cave Creek Rd, just west of Tom Darlington Dr (aka Scottsdale Rd).

Exciting dining news! I love Green and they had told me they were opening a new location. Yay for central Phoenix. I'll have to make the journey to Cave Creek and try out Sara's place. I did get a chance to try the new Loving Hut (old Vegetarian House). The other day. The pho was really good. Can't wait to try more!
Hmmm. I haven't tried the pho yet, keep wanting to though!
