Avalon Organics Lemon Clarifying Shampoo & Conditioner

Recently I had a sudden allergic reaction to one of the hair products I was using regularly. My scalp started itching like crazy for days and it wasn't dandruff-related. I'm not used to having allergic reactions or sensitivities of any kind. I'm still not sure exactly what triggered it, but I know it was something in the shampoo and/or conditioner.

Anyway, I ended up needing a quick last minute hair regimen replacement. I stood in Sprouts 10 minutes before they closed trying to locate a vegan shampoo which would not exacerbate the allergic reaction, so my decision was hasty and unresearched and all about luck. The only thing I knew was that the Avalon Organics brand was entirely vegan, and they also make the Alba products I like so much. So I focused on finding a good product in that line. Finally out of time, I decided on a citrus-based shampoo rather than anything flowery, and I took home the Lemon Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner.

Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! Not only did two days of washing my hair with this combo completely alleviate any itchy head symptoms (I even had some immediate relief), my fine hair did very well with both even over longtime, regular use. I have to have a light daily conditioner because many are too thick and weigh my hair down with grease. My hair felt clean and soft.

I really, really like this shampoo and conditioner. The only caution is that sometimes with lemon-based products, especially if you use them when you are out in the sun a lot, they can lighten your hair. However, I didn't really notice any remarkable color lightening myself. I get my brown hair colored a shade or so deeper than it really is, but I don't spend a lot of time in the sun either. Just a heads up for those of you where this could be a problem.
